Respiratory physiotherapy

(FOR THE CHILD AND THE ADULT)

Respiratory physiotherapy aims to improve the ventilation of the lungs, to clear secretions from the respiratory tract and improve the quality of the breathing.

Commonly treated problems (for the child and the adult):

  • Bronchiolitis
  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Asthma
  • Cold and cough
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • After a surgery
  • Atelectasis
  • Silent Aspiration
  • Etc.

If you hesitate to consult because you or your child feels too ill or has fever, note that you still can consult in respiratory physiotherapy. Treatment will usually bring much good. Do not forget, however, that in the presence of fever or respiratory distress, it is better to also consult a doctor.

Our physiotherapists have expertise in respiratory physiotherapy. They will be smooth and, by various manoeuvres,  will release the secretions that can accumulate in the lungs, improve the working of the respiratory muscles, relax the muscles, improve the mobility of the thoracic cage and promote the opening of lung areas that can be collapsed. They may use, among other things, various manual techniques, drainage techniques, ventilation exercises and equipment such as the spirometer. They will also teach you some exercises that you can do at home.
